Load FAQ & troubleshooting
Common questions about creating, organizing, and finding loads. For the full picture, see Load management; for the step-by-step, see the back-office and driver playbooks.
Where do I start a new load?
From the back office, two ways: the plus (+) button in the top navigation (available from any page, then pick "Load(s)"), or open a project and add loads directly to it. Every load belongs to a project, so the Add Loads dialog asks you to pick or create one first, then has you fill in an origin and destination, commodity details, and equipment requirements.
Do I have to create the project first?
No. You can create the project right inside the Add Loads dialog, without navigating away. In the Project field, type a new name and choose the "Create" option to open the "Create New Project" sub-form. When you create the load, Offload saves the new project at the same time.
Where do I set the customer?
The customer lives on the project, not on each load. When you create or edit a project, set it in the Customer field. You can pick an existing company or type a new name and choose "Create" to add one (a Company Name and Type are required; email, phone, and website are optional). A customer is optional, so a project can have none.
What do the load statuses mean?
Planning = the load is being set up. Scheduled = set up and booked on the dispatch calendar. On-time = tracking to its planned schedule. Delayed = running behind its planned schedule. Delivered = reached its destination and complete. Status is a manual selection (new loads start in Planning); marking a load Delivered also closes out any shares on it.
How do I create several similar loads at once?
Use the "Number of Load Copies" field to create multiple identical loads in one go. Each one gets auto-numbered (001, 002, 003, and so on). The create button updates to read "Create N Loads" so you can confirm the count. This is handy when you need several loads for the same route and commodity.
Can I copy details from a load I already made?
Yes. When the selected project already has loads, use the "Prefill Load Details from Existing Load" option to copy a previous load's settings (dates, locations, dimensions, commodities, and equipment setups), then modify as needed.
Why do I enter loaded dimensions?
Loaded dimensions (length, width, height, weight, overhang, ground clearance) are used during route planning to check clearances against bridges, tunnels, and other restrictions along the route.
Do I have to type the job number?
Only if your organization hasn't set up job numbering. When job numbering is enabled, the "Create New Project" sub-form pre-fills the Project ID / Job number with the next auto-generated value. Leave it as-is to let Offload assign the number, or type over it to use your own. An admin turns this on in Settings; see Set up job numbering.
How do I record who's subcontracting an equipment setup?
On the load's Dispatch section (after the load is created), each equipment setup can name the outside company that provides that rig or service, like an escort service, crane company, rental vendor, or sub-hauler. On the primary setup the field is labeled "Carrier"; on additional setups it's labeled "Company" and is set per setup. Pick a company from your address book or create one inline. This records who provides the rig; it does not share the load with them. See Load management.
I received a shared load. Can I open its project?
Yes, if you filed the shared load into one of your own projects. Then the project banner at the top of the load shows your local project and links to it, so a shared load navigates up to your project just like an owned one. A "Shared by" tag names the org that shared it. The source org's project details stay private: you only see your own project's details. A plain public share link you haven't filed shows a banner with no navigation. See Share roles.
As a driver, why don't I see any loads?
You don't create your own loads. Your dispatcher assigns them, and they appear on your phone on their own. If My Loads is empty, your dispatcher may not have assigned you a load yet, you may have signed in with the wrong email, or your phone may have no signal. Pull down on the list to refresh, and call your dispatcher if it's still empty. See Finding your loads.
