Templates & Copying
When a project runs the same crew setup day after day, you don’t want to rebuild assignments from scratch each time. Dispatch templates and the copy workflow let you save a pattern once and apply it to new dates in seconds.
Dispatch templates
A dispatch template captures a project’s crew assignments and equipment requirements as a reusable pattern. When you add that project to a new date, Offload can apply the template automatically.
Saving a template
- Set up a project on a date with the crew assignments and equipment requirements you want to reuse
- Open the project action menu
- Select Save Dispatch Template
- The current assignments are saved as the template for that project
The template stores:
- Crew assignments (drivers and trucks)
- Equipment requirements (resource types and quantities)
- Dispatch notes
Applying a template
When you add a project to a new date (by dragging it from the Projects panel), Offload checks if a template exists. If it does, you’ll be asked whether to apply it.
- Apply template — The new date is pre-filled with the saved crew assignments and equipment requirements
- Skip template — The project is added to the date with no assignments
You can also apply a template manually:
- Open the project action menu on a date
- Select Apply Dispatch Template
- The template’s assignments are applied to that date
Updating a template
Templates are overwritten when you save a new one. To update a template:
- Adjust the crew assignments and equipment on any date
- Save the template again from the project action menu
- The new configuration replaces the previous template
Future dates won’t change automatically — the updated template only applies the next time you use it.
Copying dispatch details
Sometimes you need to duplicate a specific day’s setup rather than use a generic template. The copy workflow lets you copy dispatch notes and requirements from one date to other dates.
How to copy
- Open the project action menu on the source date
- Select Copy Dispatch Details
- Choose the target dates you want to copy to
- Confirm the copy
This copies:
- Dispatch notes
- Crew requirements
- Equipment requirements
Existing assignments on the target dates are not overwritten — the copy adds to what’s already there.
When to use templates vs. copying
| Scenario | Use |
|---|---|
| Same crew setup every day for a project | Template — save once, apply to each new date |
| One-off duplication of a specific day’s plan | Copy — replicate the exact setup from that day |
| Project crew changes frequently | Copy from a recent day, then adjust |
| Standard setup with minor daily variations | Template to start, then tweak assignments manually |
